Treasuring its heritage, Ferndale's Main Street district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the entire village is designated a California State Historical Landmark.

Ferndale is an all-American town which taking pride in its beautiful community and cultural heritage. In the 1800s Ferndale was a transportation and agricultural focal point, and welcomed in Scandinavian, Swiss-Italian, and Portuguese immigrants. The entire village is a California Historical Landmark.
